In building management, much of the data needed for the entire facility management lifecycle (e.g., renovations, upgrades, maintenance) is often available—such as planning and billing documents, details on individual building components, equipment management manuals, and maintenance schedules. The problem is that no document management system, no matter how sophisticated, or homemade Excel spreadsheet can provide a comprehensive overview of all these different objects, documents, and plans. As a result, valuable information often ends up gathering dust in the drawers of the respective departments instead of helping to optimize building management and thereby extend a building’s lifecycle.

To prevent this problem, eTASK has based its property structure on DIN 276. This standard is suitable not only for cost estimation in building construction but also for documentation and management during the ongoing operational phase. In combination with the FM Portal, this provides a centralized, clear, and traceable inventory documentation system and online data source for all connected users.

When integrated with other eTASK products, the property data sets open up a wide range of additional applications, such as in maintenance planning, inventory management, or relocation management. This is where the property data truly becomes valuable, as better organization of building management saves time and thus money, increases resident or user satisfaction, and extends the building’s lifecycle.

Tip: If you prefer a different property structure, you can freely define it by arranging your property types in a custom hierarchy. Maintaining the structure according to DIN 276 is recommended as a best practice in property management.
