To prevent simultaneous editing of records, you can enable record reservation in the FM Portal using a configuration parameter.
When you open a record, a message appears above the editing area. The record is reserved for you for 15 minutes and cannot be edited by others.
Note: Be sure to save your changes before the reservation period expires. If someone opens the record after your reservation expires and saves their changes, you will no longer be able to save the changes you made.
If another person opens the same record, a message appears indicating the reservation. This person has now opened the record in read-only mode. A refresh button can be used to check whether the record is available again.
What else is important?
The reservation is anonymous. No one can see who has reserved the other record.
If the reserved record is closed before the reservation interval expires, it becomes available to others sooner.
If you save within your reservation period, the reservation is extended by the preset interval.
This feature can be enabled via the RECORDLOCKTIMEOUT configuration parameter.
