The use of number ranges to reserve barcodes, which are required for the mobile inventory to identify the assets to be inventoried, leads to an orderly inventory process. Number ranges (e.g. all barcodes from 000001 to 000498) can be created and reserved in the FM portal. Barcodes that have been reserved in number ranges can only be used for the selected asset type and only once.


Identification

Information on the data record’s identification is entered in this section.
PropertyDescription
CodeEnter an abbreviation for the number range to be reserved (e.g. "EF/Munich" for "Equipment Furniture/Reserved for the location Munich").
NameEnter the full name of the number range to be reserved (e.g.. "EF/Munich" for "Equipment Furniture/Reserved for the location Munich").

Number Range

The number range which should be reserved can be defined in this section. Information about the reservation date can also be entered.
PropertyDescription
First Bar CodeEnter the number indicating the start of the number range to be reserved.
Last Bar CodeEnter the number indicating the end of the number range to be reserved.
Bar Code PrefixEnter the prefix that each barcode in the number range to be reserved should be given.
Bar Code SuffixEnter the suffix that each barcode in the number range to be reserved should be given.
CategorySelect a number range category. The category describes to which group of objects the number range is assigned.
Reservation DateSelect the date on which the number range was reserved.
Reserved byEnter the name of the person for whom the number range is reserved. In this way, other FM-Portal users can contact this person if the required number range is already being used.

The printer and template for label printing can be selected in this area.
