The IFC data schema is represented in an alphanumeric format and can be saved in various file formats. The following file formats are commonly used and are supported by eTASK:
.IFC Standard format, based on STEP (a standard for the exchange of product model data) [EN ISO 10303].
.IFCZIP Compressed (zipped) IFC file with a smaller size; a valid import format for most software applications that support IFC. It can be unzipped to retrieve the original .IFC file, or it can also be created by manually compressing the file.
Note: Since the file size of BIM models in .IFC format can become very large in practice (due to the number and level of detail of the objects), we recommend exporting BIM models as .IFCZIP.
Autodesk Revit
In Revit, the IFC file type can be configured under the IFC export settings in the “Export General IFC Property Sets” tab. When using “eTASK.BIM-Tools for Revit,” the IFC file type is automatically set by eTASK (as .IFCZIP).
