All objects are assigned to an object type and a matchcode. These already provide a set of attributes that you can populate for the object. If you want to add additional attributes to an object, you can create custom attributes and assign them via the object type.

Prerequisites

  • You have administrative rights

  • The object type to which you want to assign the custom attribute has already been created

Procedure in the FM Portal

Path to the starting point: System Control - Objects - Object Catalog - Configuration of Custom Attributes - Custom Attributes

  1. Click New... in the list's toolbar. An empty form opens.

  2. Select the object type to which you want to assign the custom attribute. For objects of this type, the attribute created here will be available for editing.

  3. In the Display Order field, specify the position where the custom attribute should be displayed in the object. If there are multiple custom attributes for the selected object type, make sure you do not assign duplicate positions.

  4. Enter a field name for the custom attribute. The attribute will later be listed under this name when editing the object.

  5. In the Data Type field, select the type of field to be listed in the object.

  1. Selection Attribute: If you want to create a selection field, you can define the options further down in the Attribute Values for Selection Fields section.

  2. Bit Attribute: This data type creates an attribute that can be set to "Yes" or "No" by checking a box.

  3. Date: This data type creates a date picker.

  4. Text: This data type creates a simple text input attribute.

  5. Number: This data type creates a field in which only numbers can be entered. If you select this data type, you can choose a corresponding unit in the Unit field.

  6. In the Details section, you can decide whether the custom attribute should be a required field and whether the attribute should also be included in the 📄 Die Objektsuche IC1951 .

  7. Click Save in the toolbar.

The custom attribute has been created and is now displayed for all objects assigned to the selected object type.

If you want to change the attribute later and want this change to appear not only in new objects but also in existing ones, you must update it via the object type. 📄 Individuelle Attribute aktualisieren IC1952
