Manufacturer management supports the assignment of products to their manufacturers, the maintenance of warranty and support relationships and supplier evaluation. Important for procurement, maintenance and spare parts management.
Identification
Basic identification features of the manufacturer, consisting of internal ID, manufacturer code (abbreviation) and full company name.| Property | Description |
| Code | Short name or abbreviation of the manufacturer for quick identification. Recommended codes are based on common abbreviations (e.g. "HP" for Hewlett-Packard, "DELL" for Dell Technologies, "MSFT" for Microsoft, "LNV" for Lenovo, "CSCO" for Cisco). The abbreviation is used in lists, reports and product designations. |
| Designation | Full official company name of the manufacturer (e.g. "Hewlett-Packard Enterprise", "Dell Technologies Inc.", "Microsoft Corporation", "Lenovo Group Limited"). The exact company name is important for contracts, warranty requests and official communication. |
| Internal ID (Data ID) | Unique identification number of the manufacturer in the system. This ID is used internally in the system to link to IT devices, software products, matchcodes and maintenance contracts and is assigned automatically. |
