Enable timer jobs so that they run at regular intervals.
Path to the starting point: Control Panel - Portal Options - Portal Administration - Timer Jobs - Job Management
Open the timer job you want to enable.
Check the "Active" checkbox.
Click Save in the toolbar.
Tip: In the Scheduling section, under Interval [Minutes], set the time interval at which the timer job should run. However, do this only for timer jobs that are not marked with the "always update" label. Changes to these timer jobs will be overwritten during the next update.
